Suncoast:  One person airlifted to the hospital after a serious accident

We responded to a two vehicle accident about 3 pm Sat. afternoon at Duncan Rd and Persay Drive in Punta Gorda. The caller reported heavy damage with entrapment. The first units arriving found two patients walking from vehicle one. One of those patients was transported to the hospital. The driver of red SUV was trapped and required heavy extrication in order to be removed which took about 35 minutes. The patient was then air lifted by Aeromed 5 to Gulfcoast Hospital in Ft. Myers.
