Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office investigating a death in Englewood

Detectives are continuing to conduct a death investigation following an incident that occurred early Thursday morning.
Just after 6:30 a.m., deputies were called to 163 W. Fray Street in Englewood for the report of an unconscious man lying in the front yard. Paramedics responded and declared the man deceased at 6:39 a.m.
Through investigation, detectives identified the decedent as 41-year-old Kenneth Adams. Next of kin was immediately notified.
Adams was released late Wednesday around midnight, from the Sarasota County Correctional Facility. As of Wednesday, Adams completed his sentence stemming from a December arrest for Possession of Fentanyl, Possession of Hydromorphone and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Based on preliminary investigation, detectives are confident Adams died as the result of a drug overdose however, the type of drug, toxicity levels and an official cause of death will be determined and released by the medical examiner’s office.
