The North Port City Commission voted Monday to advance an 18-month moratorium on new data center development to second reading, with an amendment allowing the City’s existing data center application to continue through the development-review process, but not final approval.
The moratorium would otherwise pause new data center applications while the City studies and develops appropriate regulations for these facilities.
The ordinance will return to the Commission for a second and final reading on Sept. 22 at the 6 p.m. Regular Meeting.
