Venice Mayor Nick Pachota won the State House District 74 seat in Tuesday’s election. Both Mayor Pachota and Vice Mayor Jim Boldt will continue in their respective seats on Venice City Council until Nov. 2. Jim will assume the duties of Mayor Nov. 3, and will be ceremonially sworn in as Mayor at the Nov. 17 Council meeting.

The City Council Seat 4 vacancy left by Jim will be filled by the Council within 60 days after the vacancy occurs. Per City code, vacancies will be filled by Council with any qualified resident so appointed to serve until a successor is elected at the next regular municipal election, or special election earlier called for that purpose. A person elected in such election will serve the remaining unexpired term of the City Council Member whose vacant office is being filled.
