Sarasota Police arrest juvenile in connection to homicide

The Sarasota Police Department arrested William Rosencrantz, 17, of Manatee County, today, July 8, in Manatee County, for a homicide that happened in the City of Sarasota on Tuesday, July 7. The victim is an 18-year-old man, and he died of a gunshot wound. Rosencrantz is facing a felony charge of second-degree murder. Pursuant to Florida State Statute 985.04 (2)(a)1., information about juveniles charged with felonies is public record.
 
Sarasota Police officers responded to a call of a person lying on the ground bleeding at approximately 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 7, near 15th Street and Central Avenue in Sarasota. Officers performed CPR until EMS arrived. The victim died on the way to Sarasota Memorial Hospital.
 
“Solving a homicide in less than 48 hours is no easy feat,” said Rex Troche, Sarasota Police Department Chief of Police. “We owe this to tenacity of our officers and detectives and their drive to keep our community safe.”
