Retail theft isn’t “no big deal.” in North Port

When someone repeatedly targets businesses in our community, it hurts the employees, customers, and local stores that work hard to serve our city. And when offenders aren’t held accountable, they rarely stop on their own. They just keep taking their act from one community to the next.

That brings us to 26-year-old Jarick Georg, who detectives say is connected to multiple retail thefts throughout our region.

On May 21, 2026, Georg attempted the same thing in our city. Officers tried to stop him, but he apparently decided sprinting through a parking lot was the better option. Spoiler alert: DO. NOT. RUN. FROM. THE. POLICE.

After a short foot pursuit, Georg was safely taken into custody. Officers then made contact with 24-year-old Marissa Losardo, who was inside Georg’s vehicle. During the investigation, Losardo was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia… both very much a no-no.

Sooooo, for those who are not picking up what we are putting down … retail theft operations are very much still a thing in North Port, and we absolutely do not run from the police.
