Venice fire rescues a distressed sailboater

Rain or shine, Venice Fire Rescue is there for you. 
Yesterday afternoon, Rescue Boat 51 was dispatched to assist an 18-foot sailboat in distress due to deteriorating weather conditions. The vessel had lost its sail, and one occupant remained on board.
Due to rough seas, Sea Tow determined it was unsafe to tow the sailboat back into the Intracoastal Waterway without a significant risk of capsizing. With assistance from Beach Patrol’s Ski 23, crews safely transferred the occupant to Rescue Boat 51.
The sailboat was secured and left on scene, and the occupant was transported safely to shore without injury.
