The Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation (CFA), conducted a virtual meeting today, June 18, 2020 and voted to award the Sarasota Police Department with re-accreditation status. This status will stay in good standing with CFA for the next three years.

On March 10-12, a team of assessors from CFA conducted a thorough on-site assessment of the Sarasota Police Department. They examined all aspects of policies and procedures, management, operations, and support services. CFA assessors found the agency in compliance with 239 standards.

Sarasota Police Department Accreditation Manager Areaka Jewell worked extremely hard to ensure written materials and policies were up to date, many of which are critical to life, health and safety issues.

“I am proud of the members of the agency to include the Accreditation Manager Areaka Jewell” said Chief DiPino. “We’ve worked hard these last three years. We are committed to providing our community with professional and best practices through oversight of the accreditation process. This is a significant accomplishment for our department and one that our community should share pride in.”
