City announces process for Warm Mineral Springs Park passholders to request prorated refunds
Francesco Abbruzzino, The Uncensored Report, LLC
CITY OF NORTH PORT, FL – The City of North Port has established a process to issue prorated refunds or extensions for Warm Mineral Springs Park passholders while the park remains temporarily closed following damage from Hurricane Ian.
On Dec. 14, North Port City Manager Jerome Fletcher signed Emergency Order No. 2022-19 – an order related to the temporary eligibility for a prorated refund or extension of multiday and annual admission passes for Warm Mineral Springs Park. This order allows the City to change the current refund policy, so it may issue prorated refunds for valid multiday and annual passholders or provide passholders the option for pass extension.
Refund request process
Passholders who would like to request a refund can stop by the Morgan Family Community Center, 6207 W. Price Blvd., during the following dates and times starting Jan. 3:
- Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. – noon and 6 – 8 p.m.
- Saturdays from 1 – 3 p.m.
To qualify for a refund, passes must not be expired as of Sept. 27, 2022. Patrons will be asked to complete the refund request form, provide a photo ID and turn in their pass. The name on the photo ID must match the name on the Warm Mineral Springs Park pass. Staff will provide a copy of the form to the patron for documentation. Refund requests will take a few weeks to process and will be issued to valid passholders via a check in U.S. currency.
For passholders who don’t live in the City of North Port, an online refund request form can be completed at https://bit.ly/RefundRequestWMSP. Valid passholders will need to mail their passes to the Morgan Family Community Center, 6207 W. Price Blvd. Please note, refunds cannot be processed until the physical pass is received.
Park pass extensions process
For those who wish to extend their passes to Warm Mineral Springs Park, the calculation will be based upon the closure date of Sept. 27, 2022, and confirmation of the reopening date. The opening date is tied to mobilization of modular admissions building, portable restroom and general contractor (who will install the required ADA accessible walkways and electrical), as well as the successful hiring of staff. While the City does not have a set reopening date yet, current projections are for a reopening sometime in March.
