SCSO identifies the man involved in the deputy involved shooting and updates us on the deputies injury from the machete

The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate Thursday’s armed burglary and subsequent officer-involved shooting.
Through continued investigation, deputies have identified the suspect as Tyler Casey Sweeney, DOB 07/18/93, of 4801 Fruitville Road, #103. He has no known prior arrests or criminal history. Next of kin has been notified.
The deputy injured by the machete has received medical care; however, due to swelling and risks of infection, his surgery has been pushed to Tuesday of next week. Thank you to members of our community who have reached out to offer their support.
