There have been a ton of emails regarding the LDR’s. Many with concerns regarding the Edge District. If you want information on the edge you can click this link and go to page 62 – Edge District. What are the Land Development Regulations?
The City of Venice Land Development Regulations (LDR) contains regulations that govern how land is developed. The code affects the everyday lives of people in our city from architectural design, stormwater, building height, parking, sidewalks, landscaping, allowable uses, site development and more!
Why are we updating the Land Development Regulations?
Now that the 2017-2027 Comprehensive Plan has been adopted, the City is now working to update the LDR. The updated LDR implement the visions, intents and strategies of the Comprehensive Plan. The current LDR needs to be updated to reflect the new Comprehensive Plan policies. The updated LDR will make the code and processes easier to use and understand.
What happens next?
Kimley-Horn, Planning Commission and City of Venice staff have been working together through workshops and meetings since 2018 rewriting the LDR. The workshop agendas are available to review.
The Planning Commission approved the first draft for review on June 29, 2021.
The Planning Commission approved the second draft for review on April 5, 2022
