Sarasota come together with the community to celebrate #Juneteenth

JUNETEENTH – This Saturday, come together with the community to celebrate #Juneteenth, an annual commemoration of the end of slavery in the United States, at the Newtown Juneteenth Celebration 2022!

 

 

Organized by The Culture Queen, Gwendalyn Fleetwood, in partnership with Sarasota Athletics, Inc., the event features dozens of local vendors, food trucks, family-friendly activities, a live DJ, and performances by Derric Gobourne Jr. and the Thrill and Jah Movement. The celebration will run from 1pm – 8pm, rain or shine, on Dr. Martin Luther King Way, between Osprey Avenue and Dixie Avenue, in Sarasota.

 

The City of Sarasota is proud to recognize the Newtown Juneteenth Celebration as one of our 15 co-sponsored special events with in-kind services including permitting, street closures, barricades, police, and garbage/recycling.
