Venice: Sharky’s temporary closes after an employee test positive for coronavirus
To our loyal Sharky’s friends & family,
Today we learned that a Sharky’s employee tested positive for COVID-19. The employee who tested positive last worked on Sunday, June 28th. Though we don’t believe there is evidence that the virus has spread beyond this individual, we determined that, through our contact tracing efforts, some time to test and allow for symptoms to show among other staff members would be best. Therefore, in an abundance of caution and for the health and safety of our employees and guests, we will be closing Sharky’s, effective immediately (Thursday, July 9th). Fins At Sharky’s will remain open.
During this time, we will be partaking in a deep clean and commercial-grade sanitization of the restaurant. At this time, we do not have a reopening date, and will keep all of you updated as to when we plan to reopen our doors. Upon reopening, only staff who have tested negative for COVID-19 will be allowed to return to work.
With the current surge in COVID-19 cases in Florida and Sarasota County, we knew this moment was inevitable. Being a restaurant that experiences a high volume of guests and employs a large staff, it was not a matter of “if,” but a matter of “when.” When we reopened our doors to dine-in guests on May 4th, we made certain that we would do everything in our power to keep our employees and guests safe during these troubled and uncertain times: employee health screening, mandatory mask wearing, meticulous & thorough sanitization, single-use menus & enforcing all social distancing guidelines. We have worked diligently to adhere to all ordinances set forth by FL Gov. DeSantis and the guidelines recommended by the CDC, and our staff and customers have continually expressed confidence in our abilities to do so.
