Over today and Thursday, the City of Venice has collected about 22.4 tons (44,800 pounds) of dead fish and other marine debris from South Jetty to Brohard beaches, including Venice Beach.

Sarasota County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources (PRNR) staff removed approximately 10 tons of marine debris today from operations on Lido, Siesta, Nokomis and North Jetty beaches.

PRNR staff continue to monitor and assess public beaches and access points for seaweed accumulation and red tide impacts.
