This evening, Monday July 5th, the City of North Port will declare a local State of Emergency due to the threat of Tropical Storm Elsa. In conjunction with Sarasota County’s Emergency Operations Center, the City’s EOC will be activated Tuesday morning July 6th. This is out of an abundance of caution. Heavy rain and wind gusts are expected throughout the day Tuesday.

Non-emergency City facilities and programs will be closed Tuesday. This includes typical functions at City Hall such as permitting, in-person utility bill pay, and the City Clerk’s office.

City of North Port summer camps will not be in session on 7/6. All Parks & Recreation facilities will be closed including the Morgan Family Community Center, George Mullen Activity Center, North Port Aquatic Center and Warm Mineral Springs Park. All indoor and outdoor rentals have been canceled. Staff will be in touch to reschedule or process refunds. We expect a normal schedule on 7/7.

The City’s Family Serivces Center, Community Education Center, and other Social Services functions and programs will also be closed Tuesday.

There will be no trash pickup Tuesday. All pickups will run one day behind schedule for the rest of the week.
