PARADE DAY! Old Betsy, the City’s1926 LaFrance fire engine, is ready for her closeup!

The Venice High School “Parade of Champions” will be held this afternoon to celebrate Venice’s Girls Soccer Class 6A State Champions.

The parade steps off at 3 p.m. from the VHS bus loop. It will travel west on Milan Avenue across U.S. 41 (Tamiami Trail), take a right on Nokomis Avenue to West Venice Avenue, turn right on Nassau Street and end at the Centennial Park west entrance. Parade lineup will start at 2:30 p.m.

A program at the Centennial Park Gazebo will follow with a color guard presentation, speakers and music. Water will be provided and Serve Florida will serve free hot dogs. The VHS Boosters will be collecting donations to help cover the costs of athletes’ championship rings.
