Late this evening, officers with the North Port Police Department arrested a department employee. After an internal employee came forward this weekend with concerns, an immediate investigation was started into Forensic Supervisor, Tracy Gold (48). As a result of the investigation, Gold has now been charged with six felony counts surrounding narcotics. Four of the felony charges are for illegal possession of different types of prescription pills. There are two additional felony charges for having amounts equating to trafficking the pills.
Gold has held the title of Forensic Supervisor, a civilian position, since March of 2017.
While this is a sad day for NPPD, we are thankful for the diligent work done by investigators to swiftly work through this case. “Nobody within our agency is above the law. Our promise to this community is to do whatever is necessary to hold everyone accountable for their actions,” Chief Todd Garrison.
This will be our only comment this evening. We will be available for media inquiries Tuesday morning at 10am at the North Port Police Department. Attached is the PCA, and Ms. Gold’s Department Photo. She is currently being booked into the Sarasota County jail. You will be able to find her mugshot there once she is processed and it is uploaded.
