One dead after a fatal hit-and-run accident in North Port

Vehicle 1 (Ford Transit Van) was traveling south on US Highway 41 at a high rate of speed with no headlights on, in the inside lane approaching Palm Harbor Drive. Vehicle 2 (Harley Davidson Electra Glide Motorcycle) was traveling north on US Highway 41, in the inside westbound turn lane approaching Palm Harbor Drive. Vehicle 2 attempted to turn south onto Palm Harbor Dr and entered the path of Vehicle 1. The front of Vehicle 1 collided with Vehicle 2. This collision caused Driver 2 and passenger to separate from Vehicle 2. Vehicle 3 (Lexus RX) was traveling north on US Highway 41. The front of Vehicle 3 then collided with Vehicle 2. Driver 2 was pronounced deceased on scene. Vehicle 2 passenger was transported to a local area hospital in critical condition.
 
Driver 1 (Zachary Richards), was arrested on scene for DUI Manslaughter, DUI Serious Bodily Injury and DUI Property Damage and booked into the Sarasota County Jail
