It Begins: Obama Calls For Gun Control After Boulder Shooting

Former President Obama called on Congress to pass gun control legislation just a day after a Syrian migrant allegedly shot and killed 10 people in Boulder, Colorado.

Obama first denigrated America as a dangerous place where people can’t live life “without wondering if the next trip outside home could be our last.”

“We should be able to live our lives without wondering if the next trip outside our home could be our last. We should. But in America, we can’t,” Obama tweeted Tuesday.

“It is long past time for those with the power to fight this epidemic of gun violence to do so,” Obama wrote. “It will take time to root out the disaffection, racism and misogyny that fuels so many of these senseless acts of violence.”

The 44th president then went on to call lawmakers who defend the Second Amendment “cowardly” and said Democrats “must overcome” resistance to their gun grab effort.

“But we can make it harder for those with hate in their hearts to buy weapons of war. We can overcome opposition by cowardly politicians and the pressure of a gun lobby that opposes any limit on the ability of anyone to assemble an arsenal. We can, and we must,” he wrote.

“A once-in-a-century pandemic cannot be the only thing that slows mass shootings in this country. We shouldn’t have to choose between one type of tragedy and another. It’s time for leaders everywhere to listen to the American people when they say enough is enough — because this is a normal we can no longer afford,” he concluded.

Since he mentions listening to the American people, it’s notable that the gun control debate is sharply divided along political lines, with about 78% of Republicans who want gun sales to be less strict or kept the same, versus 85% of Democrats who want stricter gun sale laws.

Additionally, Colorado already has extremely strict gun control laws in place.

Authorities haven’t yet released a motive for 21-year-old suspect Al Aliwi Alissa, a Syrian migrant who killed 10 people with a rifle at a King Soopers supermarket on Monday, including a police officer.

With Democrats back in power, one can expect the gun control debate to only escalate, as stripping away the Second Amendment remains a key pillar of the left’s takeover.

How long until FBI calls him a lone wolf and quickly closes the case?
