Historic Ringling train car being moved into place at the Venice Train Depot today.
With the help of numerous donors, the Venice Area Historical Society brought the retired circus train car to the Historic Venice Train Depot campus and is donating it to Sarasota County for viewing in the future by the public.
Interior exhibits will be installed during the next several months and will showcase Venice’s circus history and legacy, and illustrate how performers lived on the circus train.

It is anticipated that the interior of the car will be available for tours beginning in fall 2021.
VAHS found an ideal car, built by Pullman-Standard in 1953 and once owned by Ringling Bros., at the Florida Railroad Museum. The Society raised close to $350,000 to purchase, refurbish and transport the 85-foot-long rail car, and to prepare the Depot site to receive it.
