Port Charlotte man shoots family’s car after dispute, now on the run – wink

On July 22nd, 2026, the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office responded to 656 Cape Terrace NW in Port Charlotte, in reference to a gunshots call for service.
 
The Major Crimes Unit responded and through the investigation, it was learned that following a domestic dispute between the suspect, George V. Kilgore III DOB (1/4/1982), and his family, he shot into a family-owned vehicle. The vehicle was parked at the residence, and no other persons or property were reported to be shot. It was discovered Kilgore fled the area on foot prior to law enforcement arrival. The Major Crimes Unit established probable cause for Kilgore’s arrest pursuant to Florida State Statute 790.23 – Possession of a Firearm by Florida Convicted Felon, and Florida State Statute 790.15 Discharging Firearm in Public or on Residential Property.
 
At this time, Kilgore has not been located. The firearm that Kilgore allegedly used during the incident has been recovered from the residence during the execution of a search warrant.
