Sarasota Police arrest man from Miami linked to Brevard County burglaries

Hector Hernandez, 24, of Miami, was arrested by Sarasota Police officers Monday, June 22, and is facing a felony charge of possession of burglary tools.
The Real-Time Operations Center (ROC) learned a vehicle, a 2024 Mercedes-Benz, was wanted by the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office and was traveling through the City of Sarasota. At about 9:40 a.m. Monday, June 22, patrol officers spotted the vehicle, which officers learned was used in multiple burglaries in Brevard County.
Patrol officers stopped the vehicle near Orange Avenue and Ringling Boulevard, and with assistance from the Real-Time Operations Center (ROC), learned the driver, Hernandez, was wanted on a warrant from Brevard County in connection with multiple burglaries committed while masked.
Before taking Hernandez to jail, officers learned from the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office that the Mercedes-Benz had been used in a burglary in Brevard County at 4 a.m. Monday, June 22. The suspect was captured on video wearing a black hoodie, black mask, black gloves, camouflage pants and dark sneakers with white soles. Officers found all of those items in the trunk and glove box of the Mercedes-Benz.
“The Real-Time Operations Center is a multiplier for our officers. ROC analysts can provide real-time intelligence and support for our officers in the field. In this case, the ROC was able to quickly assist patrol in locating and arresting this burglary suspect preventing him from potentially committing crimes our community,” said Chief Troche.
Hernandez is facing charges of possession of burglary tools, a felony. He was also issued a citation for unknowingly driving with a suspended license. He is being held at the Sarasota County Jail without bond.
