Sarasota County Commissioners hold a public hearing for Manasota Key Seawall – WTSP

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN PURSUANT to provisions of Chapter 54, Article XXII of the Sarasota County Code (the Coastal Setback Code), that the Sarasota County Commission of Sarasota County, Florida, at their regularly scheduled meeting on May 5, 2026 in the Commission Chambers, Sarasota County R. L. Anderson Administration Building, 4000 S. Tamiami Trail, Venice, Florida, at 9:00 AM, or as soon thereafter as possible, will consider and act upon the following petition for a Coastal Setback Variance in connection with the following described property in Sarasota County, Florida, for the following purpose:
(Public hearing) To adopt a resolution regarding Coastal Setback Variance No. 79-03-26-619 for construction of a 380.2-foot-long vinyl sheet pile seawall a maximum of 57.1 feet seaward of the Gulf Beach Setback Line (GBSL) at 778 and 779 North Manasota Key Road, Englewood.
All interested parties are invited to appear, be heard, and submit relevant evidence. Written comments submitted to environmental@scgov.net prior to the date of the hearing will be heard and included in the official meeting record. Complete drafts of the proposed Resolution and/or details are available for public inspection in the office of Sarasota County Environmental Protection Division, 1001 Sarasota Center Blvd., Sarasota, Florida, 34240. Supporting documents will be available the Tuesday prior to the public hearing at www.scgov.net/meetingsondemand to view or download. Said public hearing may be continued from time to time as announced at the aforementioned hearing or as may be found necessary.
The following time limits for speaker presentations are in effect: 20 minutes for petitioner presentation; 5 minutes for citizen comments per speaker; 5 minutes for petitioner rebuttal. The Chairman may modify time limits to ensure due process to all participants.
