As part of the City of Venice’s Capital Improvement Program for the Intracoastal Waterway Second Force Main project, contractor Spectrum Underground will mill and pave the intersection of E. Venice Ave. and Warfield Ave. this week, as well as portions of the E. Venice Ave. service road that provides access to City of Venice and Sarasota County parks.

Milling and paving work is scheduled for Wednesday, April 22 through Friday, April 24. This schedule is subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

Traffic patterns will shift during the work and will include a closure of the E. Venice Ave. service road and a separate closure of access to Warfield Ave. N. from E. Venice Ave. Traffic control will be implemented in three phases to avoid a full closure of E. Venice Ave. and require traffic detours. Message boards and traffic control signs will be in place to direct motorists through the work zone.

Motorists needing to access Legacy Park, the Venice Train Depot, and the Marina Park Boat Launch during the westbound E. Venice Ave. service road closure should follow detour signs to Warfield Ave. (south), Camion St. (west), and Seaboard Ave. (north).

Large equipment and machinery will be operating within the road right-of-way. Please obey all posted traffic control signs, drive slowly, and use caution around pedestrians and workers.

The Utilities Department appreciates your patience as we work to improve the community’s infrastructure.
