A Louisiana man who is a convicted felon has been arrested in the City of Sarasota and is facing multiple felony charges. On April 11, at about 10:30 p.m., Sarasota Police officers were alerted that a stolen vehicle from Louisiana was entering the area of St. Armands Circle. Officers stopped the vehicle after it turned onto a dead-end road in the 100 block of John Ringling Blvd.
The driver, Collin Aymond, 33, of Louisiana, got out of the vehicle and ran. Officers apprehended him and took him into custody. He made spontaneous statements about taking the vehicle from a family member.
The passenger, Elliot Clark, 31, of Virginia, stayed in the vehicle and told officers he didn’t know it was stolen. He said Aymond picked him up in North Florida and offered him a ride to Tampa and back.
During a search of the vehicle, officers located:
A silver Raven Arms P25 .25-caliber handgun
A black Lorcin L25 .25-caliber handgun
35 grams of oxycodone pills
Aymond is facing the following charges:
Motor vehicle theft (felony)
Two counts of possession of a firearm by other state convicted felon (felony)
Possession or use of a firearm during a felony (felony)
Trafficking in oxycodone (felony)
Resist officer without violence (misdemeanor)
Clark is facing charges of:
Trespass Structure of Conveyance (misdemeanor)
This charge stems from Clark remaining in a vehicle he did not have permission to be in after it was stolen.
Aymond remains at the Sarasota County Jail on a $38,000 bond. Clark was released on a $150 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on May 7.
