Don’t blink! This video, taken at Lemon Bay Park and Environmental Center, shows two bobcats moving quietly in single file, a behavior often seen during the tail end of bobcat breeding season here in Florida.

From late winter into early spring, males may closely follow females as they patrol territory, communicate through scent marking and complete the breeding cycle. While bobcats are typically solitary, these brief interactions offer a rare glimpse into their secret lives.

After breeding, females have a gestation period of about two months which means bobcat kittens are usually born from April through early summer. The kittens will stay tucked away and will rely on their mother until the next breeding season rolls around. Nature has a fun way of keeping secrets, but every now and then, it lets us in on one!
