School zone speed enforcement cameras are now active in Charlotte County.

During the first 30 days of the program, drivers caught speeding will receive a warning notice by mail. Beginning April 1, 2026, drivers traveling more than 10 mph over the posted school zone speed limit will receive a $100 citation.
When it comes to schools, everyone knows who’s in charge.

Principals from Charlotte County Public Schools are stepping out front with a simple message for drivers: just go the speed limit.

Our focus is on keeping the roadways safe for our children and everyone in our community.
School zone speed cameras are currently active at nine schools across the county:

• Lemon Bay High School
• Port Charlotte High School
• Port Charlotte Middle School
• L.A. Ainger Middle School
• Murdock Middle School
• Peace River Elementary
• Neil Armstrong Elementary
• Liberty Elementary
