66-year-old diver dies near Manasota Beach

The search for a missing 66-year-old diver came to a sad conclusion Sunday afternoon when his body was recovered near Manasota Beach.
 
The multi-agency response began shortly after noon after the diver, who entered the water around 9:30 a.m., failed to return to shore and was reported missing by a friend.

 
Numerous agencies assisted in the search by land, sea, and air, including EFD, U.S. Coast Guard, Venice Fire Dept, Venice Police Dept, Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office, Sarasota County Fire Dept, Sarasota Police Dept, and the FWC.
 
The U.S. Coast Guard and SCSO searched from the air with helicopters.
