Venice Police bust a North Port woman with over 200 grams of fentanyl

Detectives from the Venice Police Department Special Investigations Unit, Venice K9 Palmer, and with the assistance of Sarasota County Air1, made a significant arrest yesterday, Sept. 23, involving the possession of a large quantity of fentanyl.

 

Stacy Jill Garrett, 44, of North Port, was taken into custody following proactive enforcement action on southbound I-75 near exit 195, supported by a thorough investigation and coordinated interagency response.

 

A total of 217.8 grams (¼ kilogram) of fentanyl was seized during the arrest, resulting in a significant setback for the local drug trade and highlighting our commitment to fighting the opioid crisis.

 

Garrett faces multiple felony charges and is currently being held at the Sarasota County Jail, pending further investigation and prosecution.
