As part of an ongoing investigation into organized retail theft, detectives from the Special Investigations Unit conducted a traffic stop on July 18, 2025, resulting in the arrest of two suspects from Miami, FL.

Yordan Prats Piloto (43yoa) was observed inside a retail store removing anti-theft devices from merchandise including shoes and handbags. Surveillance footage confirmed his actions, and he was found in possession of multiple items with factory tags still attached. He faces charges including:

-Use of anti-shoplifting countermeasures
-Attempted petit theft
-Possession of controlled substances without a prescription.
Persy Daniel Hernandez-Suarez (29yoa), was driving the suspect vehicle with a suspended license, was also arrested and charged accordingly.

A search of the vehicle revealed additional stolen goods, prescription medications not belonging to either suspect, and tools commonly used to defeat retail security systems. Both individuals were transported to jail without incident.

This arrest is a significant step forward in dismantling a theft ring that has targeted multiple retail locations. The investigation remains active.
