On Monday evening, Sarasota Police Department Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division, along with Community Action Team Officers, arrested Mark McGoldrick, a registered sexual offender, for the charges of:

  • Aggravated Stalking of a Child Under 16, and
  • Loitering and Prowling by a Sexual Offender Close to Children.

McGoldrick is accused of attempting to lure a 13-year-old girl into his vehicle on Sunday evening. The victim managed to record the incident on video before fleeing the area and later identified McGoldrick from a photo lineup.

Through the investigation, detectives learned that McGoldrick has allegedly been stalking the same child multiple times over the past year. The girl reported that he frequently approached her while she was alone at her school bus stop during the school year.

McGoldrick was arrested at his home and is currently booked in the Sarasota County Jail.

Anyone with additional information regarding McGoldrick is asked to contact the Sarasota Police Department at 941-263-6773.
