Sarasota man arrested with a firearm equipped with a machine gun conversion device

In June 2025, Sarasota Police Detectives identified JAQUAN SAUNDERS in possession of a firearm equipped with a Machine Gun Conversion Device, commonly referred to as a Glock Switch—an illegal modification that converts a handgun into a fully automatic weapon.

An arrest warrant was issued for Saunders on charges including:

Possession of a Machine Gun
Possession of a Firearm by an Adjudicated Delinquent

On July 1, officers located and attempted to arrest Saunders. Saunders refused multiple commands and resisted arrest, requiring officers to gain physical control to safely place him in custody. Saunders also made threatening statements following his arrest.

The arrest occurred after Saunders became an adult. He is now in custody at the Sarasota County Jail facing the following charges:

Possession of a Machine Gun Conversion Device
Violation of Probation
Resisting Arrest
