It’s important to have good neighbors who watch out for you and deputies who respond quickly and take action!
Monday, SCSO received a call reporting two men entering a home on Casey Key Rd. The caller/neighbor reported seeing the men use wire cutters and remove piping from the residence that is under construction from damage in the most recent hurricanes.

Deputies arrived and surveyed the area where they spotted copper piping and wire in their truck, as well as more pipe and wire behind the residence. The cutters that the neighbor had seen them using were also found. The owner of the home was contacted and confirmed that no one should be at the residence and wanted to pursue criminal charges.
Both Alberto Vasquez Rodriguez and Roberto Hernandez were placed under arrest for Burglary of an Unoccupied Dwelling and were taken to the Sarasota County Correctional Facility.
Great work stopping victims of a hurricane from becoming victims again!
