Traffic Fatality in Sarasota on Saturday in Sarasota

On Saturday, February 8, 2025, at approximately 1:30am, the Sarasota Police Department responded to the intersection of Fruitville Road and Golden Sands Drive after calls came in about a vehicle traveling east bound on Fruitville Road at a high rate of speed.
Upon arrival, the investigation revealed that the vehicle had left the roadway, subsequently striking a power pole and into a retention wall. The driver, a 31-year-old male, was the only occupant of the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
