The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) arrested a 29-year-old man for possession of cocaine on Tuesday, February 4.

Special Investigations Detectives, after receiving information regarding a potential drug dealer, followed up with a narcotics investigation which established cause to issue a search warrant for the residence of Jose C. Arellano Alverado, DOB 8/04/95, at 4726 McIntosh Road, Sarasota. The Special Investigations Section, with the assistance of SWAT, executed the search of the residence where detectives located several grams of cocaine. Alverado was charged with Possession of Cocaine and taken to the Sarasota County Correctional Facility.

Upon his arrest, it was also revealed that Alverado was an illegal alien. SCSO contacted Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and confirmed that Alverado is in fact an illegal alien and is not authorized to be in Sarasota County. HSI is in the process of placing an immigration hold on Alverado with the intent to begin deportation proceedings.
