The Venice Police Department, in collaboration with the Sarasota County (FL) Sheriff’s Office, successfully apprehended two suspects involved in an armed residential burglary that occurred on Wednesday, Jan. 8.

Lorenzo Aristides Gonzalez, 23, of Spring Hill, Fla., and Camron J. Knipfer, 21, of Venice, face multiple charges including armed burglary of a dwelling, grand theft, and possession of cannabis under 20 grams.

The incident began when officers responded to a reported burglary at a City residence. The suspects had unlawfully entered the home and stolen multiple items, including three firearms, a gaming console, and a vehicle.

Thanks to swift interagency coordination, Gonzalez and Knipfer were apprehended later that evening. A search warrant was executed at a residence on Sheridan Drive in unincorporated Sarasota County, leading to the recovery of the stolen property. This included all three firearms, the gaming console, and the stolen vehicle.

We are grateful for the collaboration and support of the Sheriff’s Office, whose assistance was critical in swiftly resolving this case and recovering stolen property. This is a testament to the effectiveness of interagency partnerships in keeping our communities safe.

Both suspects were taken into custody without incident and are being held at the Sarasota County Jail. They will face prosecution for their alleged crimes.
