More than three dozen people were arrested on drug-related charges as part of a Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit operation, titled “Deal Breaker”.
Over the past few months, the CCSO Narcotics Unit has been conducting “Operation Deal Breaker”, which spanned across the entire county. Through this operation, 37 individuals were arrested on felony drug-related charges, with 72 of those charges consisting of sale and delivery.
Twenty of the cases involved trafficking amounts in either Fentanyl or Methamphetamine. Charges of that nature hold a minimum mandatory sentence of 3 to 25 years.
“I want to recognize my Narcotics team for their consistent and dedicated work in the fight to keep our community clean. It is a sad thing to see so many affected by this lifestyle, but I cannot sit back and hope it magically gets better. There are programs available to help addicts, but these individuals are refusing those programs and spreading their poison in my county, and that just isn’t acceptable.”
Sheriff Bill Prummell
Operation Deal Breaker not only removed these traffickers and dealers from the streets of Charlotte County, but also resulted in the seizure of deadly narcotics in staggering amounts. By weight, the following totals were seized throughout the operation:
- Methamphetamine – 631.67 Grams
- Fentanyl – 64.9 Grams
- Cocaine – 58.63 Grams
- Opiates – 23 Grams
