NORTH PORT, FL – North Port City offices and facilities will reopen and return to normal operation on Tuesday, Aug. 6. The Morgan Family Community Center and George Mullen Activity Center will reopen with normal hours. Warm Mineral Springs Park, the North Port Aquatic Center and the athletic fields will be inspected tomorrow. An update will be sent with that information in the morning.
- North Port continues to feel the effects of Tropical Storm Debby. Rain is forecasted to continue, potentially bringing an additional 1-3 inches of rain and 5 inches in isolated areas.
- The Department of Public Works continues to monitor levels of the creeks and increase system capacities to handle rainfall.
- North Port is prone to street flooding during and after sustained heavy rainfall. It takes time for this water to move through the stormwater drainage system – this is how it was designed to work. Do not drive through floodwaters.
- Report flooding or drainage concerns to our team via the North Report app at NorthPortFL.gov/NorthReport.
- The City Commission declared a local state of emergency Aug. 5 in response to Tropical Storm Debby’s impacts. This proactive measure is a procedural step allowing emergency funding for necessary repairs.
