Residents invited to participate in North Port’s budget process

CITY OF NORTH PORT—As the City of North Port begins its budget season, the focus is on public input. Residents will have a variety of ways to get involved and share thoughts or opinions. Public input during the budget process is crucial. Observations or opinions could help shape City Commission decisions and make a real difference.
“Resident feedback is paramount as we make choices about the City and its future,” said North Port City Manager Jerome Fletcher. “This is the most important year in North Port’s history, and we want to hear from our community about their budget priorities.”
In addition to in-person Community Budget Input Meetings, this year the City is hosting several virtual sessions focused on specific budget-related topics. These will also be recorded and made available for viewing by those who can’t attend live.
Community Budget Input Meetings:
April 16, 1:30 p.m. (virtual) – Growth and How to Pay for It (Join via Zoom)
April 18, 6 p.m. (virtual) – Personnel and Operating Costs (Join via Zoom)
April 30, 10:30 a.m. (virtual) – Millage Rate and Taxes (Join via Zoom)
May 7, 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. (two sessions, in person at City Hall, 4970 City Hall Blvd.) – Fiscal Year 2025 Budget Overview
Budget Tool: Use the budget tool to allocate $100 into the categories that mean most to you. These results will be shared with City Commissioners and staff as they continue working through the budget process.
Budget Workshops: The City Commission Budget Workshops begin on March 19, with several more to follow before a budget is adopted this fall. Public comment and participation are always welcome. Comments can be submitted via voicemail, email, or in person.
Performance Dashboards: View performance dashboards for various City Departments to track their progress toward their goals.
