Suncoast:  5-year-old drowns at her home on Sunday, is revived

The five-year-old girl who was found unresponsive in a residential pool in the 2500 block of 11th Avenue E. on Sunday afternoon passed away overnight after being removed from life support.
 
A family member discovered the child at approximately 4:40 p.m. Sunday and pulled her from the water. The family member and a neighbor performed CPR until EMS arrived and successfully revived the child. She was transported to Manatee Memorial Hospital and then airlifted to Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg.
 
It appears the child wandered out of the home and fell in. The home security system alerted the homeowner a door had opened, prompting the family member to search for her.
 
The drowning appears accidental. The investigation is active and ongoing.

The Bradenton Police Department is investigating a tragic drowning at a home in the 2500 block of 11th Avenue E.

 

At approximately 4:40 p.m. on Sunday, a 5-year-old girl was discovered unresponsive in the pool by a family member. It appears the child wandered out of the home and fell in. The home security system alerted the homeowner a door had opened, prompting the family member to search for the child. The family member and a neighbor performed CPR until EMS arrived. Manatee County EMS revived the child, who was taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital and then airlifted to All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg. She is in critical condition.

 

The drowning appears accidental. The investigation is ongoing. We will not release additional information about the family pending Marsy’s Law.
