A force main break leads to a 21,000 gallon raw sewage spill on E. Venice Ave

SRQ Cty: On Thursday afternoon, #SRQCountyUtilities staff responded to a call regarding a sewer spill on East Venice Ave. When crews arrived on site, they discovered a broken 8” force main. The crews isolated the force main quickly to stop the spill. Approximately 21,000 gallons of raw sewer spilled into the adjacent swale and stormwater canal. Approximately 20,500 gallons were recovered with multiple pumper and vacuum trucks. Notifications and clean-up are proceeding per protocol. Surface waters were impacted, and samples will be taken.  FDEP reports https://floridadep.gov/pollutionnotice
