City offices to observe Christmas, New Year’s holidays; Trash, recycling collection schedules affected | City of Sarasota

City of Sarasota, FL (Dec. 12 ,2023): City administration offices will be closed Friday, Dec. 22, and Monday, Dec. 25, in observance of Christmas and Monday, Jan. 1, 2024, for New Year’s Day.

There will be no solid waste pickup for City residents on both Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, with pickup occurring one day later:

• Monday, Dec. 25: Pickup will occur on Tuesday, Dec. 26
• Tuesday, Dec. 26: Pickup will occur on Wednesday, Dec. 27 
• Monday, Jan. 1: Pickup will occur on Tuesday, Jan. 2
• Tuesday, Jan. 2: Pickup will occur on Wednesday, Jan. 3

Holiday hours of operation at City of Sarasota recreational facilities will vary:

• Arlington Park and Aquatic Center, 2650 Waldemere St.
  • Dec. 22-23: 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
  • Dec. 24-25: closed
  • Jan. 1: closed

• Lido Pool, 400 Benjamin Franklin Dr.
  • Dec. 22-25: closed
  • Jan. 1: closed

• Payne Park Tennis Center, 2050 Adams Lane
  • Dec. 22-23: 7:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
  • Dec. 24-25: closed
  • Jan. 1: closed 
• Robert L. Taylor Community Complex, 1845 John Rivers St.
  • Dec. 22-23: 6 – 10 a.m.
  • Dec. 24-25: closed
  • Jan. 1: closed

• Van Wezel Performing Arts Center, 777 N. Tamiami Trail
  • Dec. 22: 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
  • Dec. 23: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Dec. 24-25: closed
  • Jan. 1: closed

The Bay Runner trolley operates every day of the year and will have regular hours every day during the holidays. Please note: The route will be adjusted Sunday, Dec. 31 due to the New Year’s Eve festivities. From 7 a.m. – 10 p.m., a modified route will run from Ringling Boulevard/South School Avenue, just one block south of the normal route, to South Lido Key at Ted Sperling Park.
