North Port Armed Robbery Investigation Update

NORTH PORT, FL – The suspect in the armed robbery that took place Sunday, Aug. 13, at the Dollar General store in North Port has been arrested.
United States Attorney Roger B. Handberg announced the arrest and filing of a criminal complaint charging 31-year-old Devon Floyd of Bradenton with Robbery. The charge stems from a recent incident in Tampa. Floyd is responsible for other similar incidents around the state, including the case here in North Port. The cases will be accumulated and potentially face federal charges. He is being held by the U.S. Marshals Office.

PREVIOUSLY:
The North Port Police Department was dispatched to 3085 W. Price Blvd. (Dollar General) in reference to an armed robbery shortly after 11 a.m. Sunday morning.
An unknown black male wearing a mask brandished a firearm at the clerk and demanded cash from the register. The suspect fled on foot with an unknown amount of money, possibly northbound on Cranberry Boulevard. An extensive search for the suspect is underway. It is possible that the suspect is not from the North Port area
The suspect’s photo is attached. Described as:
- Black male
- Approximately 6-foot-2
- Black shirt, black Nike shorts, yellow jacket
- Orange slide shoes
