Man convicted of arson at the Warm Mineral Springs Hotel

State Attorney Ed Brodsky announced today that WILLIAM RUSSELL VOSWINKEL JR was convicted after a jury trial for the charge of (Arson to a Dwelling). The crime was committed on (March 3, 2022) and investigated by the (Bureau of Fire and Arson Investigations, Sarasota County

 

Sheriff’s Office, and North Port Police Department). The trial was held at the Sarasota County Courthouse on (June 8, 2023). The crime carries a maximum possible sentence of (30 years). Sentencing is scheduled for (June 27, 2023). Facts: -After setting a fire inside of a motel room at the Warm Mineral Springs Motel in North Port, Florida, Voswinkel left the property and made his way to a nearby residential neighborhood where he threatened to burn down a resident’s home shortly before being apprehended and arrested by the North Port Police Department.
