ARREST UPDATE: 𝗔𝗿𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗳𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗵𝗶𝘁-𝗮𝗻𝗱-𝗿𝘂𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 in Venice

The Venice Police Department arrested 𝗝𝗮𝗰𝗼𝗯 𝗥𝗼𝗴𝗼, 𝟯𝟬, in connection with the fatal hit-and-run crash that happened on June 26, at the intersection of U.S. 41 Bypass and East Venice Avenue.
At approximately 10:30 p.m., a white sedan struck pedestrian 𝗔𝗶𝗱𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗿 𝗠𝗲𝘆𝗲𝗿 and fled the scene. Meyer later died from his injuries.
Through witness statements, surveillance footage, physical evidence, and other investigative leads, detectives identified Rogo as the driver and located the suspect vehicle in Sarasota.
𝗥𝗼𝗴𝗼 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵:
• 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗰𝗲𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗮 𝗖𝗿𝗮𝘀𝗵 𝗜𝗻𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵 (F.S. 316.027(2)(c)), a first-degree felony
• 𝗗𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗪𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗟𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗼𝗸𝗲𝗱 (𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗿𝗱 𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝘂𝗯𝘀𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗲) (F.S. 322.34(2)(c)), a third-degree felony
