Sarasota Police seize 90.2 g fentanyl, 25.9 g cocaine and $10,000 in cash

Sarasota Police Strategic Investigations Unit (SIU) detectives and patrol officers executed a search warrant at a home at 3036 31st Way, Sarasota, on Monday, April 6, 2026.
Information provided by probation officers from the Florida Department of Corrections led to the search warrant and arrest of Demarius R. Jones, 35, of Sarasota. Jones was on probation for multiple felony offenses out of Sarasota and Mantee counties.
During the search, officers found the following items:
* 90.2 grams of fentanyl
* 25.9 grams of cocaine
* 10 pills of amphetamine and dextroamphetamine
* 19 pills of hydromorphone
* 39 grams of marijuana
* A round of .223 rifle ammunition
* Clear plastic bags, straws and two digital scales with white powder residue
* More than $10,000 in cash
Jones was arrested and is facing six felonies and one misdemeanor charge including:
* Trafficking in fentanyl 4 grams or more
* Possession of cocaine with intent to sell within 1000 feet of a church
* Possession of controlled substances (amphetamine and dextroamphetamine)
* Possession of controlled substance (hydromorphone)
* Possession of marijuana less than 20 grams
* Possession of ammunition by Florida convicted felon
* Possession of drug paraphernalia
At the time of the search warrant, Jones said he was the only person who lives at the home. The home is less than 900 feet from a church.
