At 3:17 a.m. this morning, Charlotte County Fire & EMS responded to a residential structure fire on Orient Ave.
Engine 2 arrived to find a fully involved house fire with the roof already gone, and crews immediately began a defensive operation to contain the fire and protect surrounding homes.
There were no injuries reported. While the official cause of the fire remains undetermined, preliminary observations indicate it may have been electrical in nature, originating in the attic.
This is a good reminder to check your home’s electrical systems, avoid overloading outlets, and make sure you have working smoke alarms.
Responding units: Engine 2, Engine 3, Engine 8, Rescue 2, Rescue 3, Truck 2, Battalion 2, Battalion 3, Support 1, FP-7, and County Fire Marshal
