Sarasota deputies: 1 dead, 1 injured after welfare check turns into shooting investigation – wtsp

On February 22 at 10:32 a.m., SCSO responded to a 911 call requesting a welfare check in the 7000 block of Tides Circle, Sarasota. The call was made by an individual who was concerned for a friend who had called that day making unusual and worrying statements.
When deputies arrived, they observed two injured people inside the residence. Deputies entered and discovered Lily Z. Yard, A/F, DOB: 6/21/98, deceased from an apparent gunshot wound to the head. Jordan M. Rouff, W/M, DOB: 9/27/85, was still alive with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head and was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased shortly after arrival.
