We have no place in our community for those who harm children, and we will go to great lengths to ensure offenders are held accountable.

In March 2024, officers responded to a sexual battery investigation involving 38-year-old Scott Nottingham and a minor victim. The investigation revealed that the abuse had been occurring for more than a year, making it both complex and lengthy.

From the moment officers arrived, the priority was clear: protect the victim, preserve the evidence, and hold the offender accountable. Investigators moved quickly, securing the scene, executing search warrants, collecting DNA, and analyzing digital evidence. Every step was intentional, and every detail mattered.

Recently, nearly two years later, as the case approached trial, the strength of that work spoke for itself. Faced with overwhelming evidence, the defendant accepted a plea of 23 years in the Department of Corrections, followed by lifetime sex offender probation. Most importantly, the victim did not have to relive the trauma in a courtroom for justice to be served.

“Anyone who exploits a child should understand this: our investigators are relentless,” says Chief Todd Garrison. “We will pursue every lead, every piece of evidence, and every legal avenue to ensure accountability. We will not stop. We will do everything in our power to protect the most vulnerable in our community.”
