City of Sarasota to Honor SPD K-9 Coti

The Sarasota Police Department is mourning the loss of retired K-9 Coti, who faithfully served alongside Officer Nick Dominis from 2014 to 2021.
To honor his service to the City of Sarasota and the Sarasota Police Department, Officer Dominis and the K-9 Unit will provide Coti with a final ride past Sarasota Police headquarters.
The procession will take place Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2026, at 2:15 p.m. K-9 Coti will be transported in K-9 Tahoe #1655, the vehicle he proudly served in throughout his career, driven by Officer Nick Dominis.
K-9 Coti was 12 years old and was born in May 2013. He began his partnership with Officer Dominis in 2014 after completing K-9 school. During his career, Coti served with unwavering loyalty, dedication and courage. His duties included patrol operations, tracking, article and building searches, handler protection and apprehension work. He also worked alongside the Sarasota Police SWAT team and provided mutual aid to neighboring law enforcement agencies.
In 2021, Coti medically retired and spent his remaining years as a beloved member of the Dominis family. His service and legacy will not be forgotten.
